Universal Tensile Tester

The UNIVERSAL TENSILE TESTER is used for determining the ability of the material to withstand forces that tend to pull it apart & to determine to what extent the material stretches before breaking.
Different type of plastic materials are often compared on the basis of TENSILE, FLEXURAL STRENGTH, ELONGATION, & TENSILE MODULUS DATA. Many plastics are very sensitive to the rate of straining and environmental conditions. The tensile property data are more useful in preferential selection of a particular type of plastic from a large group of plastic materials.
Tests for tensile strength (stress at fracture of the specimen) and elongation (extension of material under load of plastics. The first provides a measure of the breaking strength of the material but is radically affected by the rate of loading and the ambient temperatuere. Tensile strength in kgf/cm sq. = load (kgf) / a x b (cm sq.) Elongation % = (L2-L1) x 100/L1. Standard test methods : BS 2782 method 301, ASTM D 638, ISO R527.

Carbon Black Dispersion Tester

The Carbon Black Dispersion instrument is used to find out the dispersion of additives e.g. pigments, fillers in plastics. In plastic material, pigment and fillers play a very important role for matching the uniform colors as well as resistance against UV light.
This equipment is also useful for determination of surface defects, voids, bubles, filler distribution & other structural investigation.

Hot Water Bath Reversion Oil Bath

The “generally” Hot Water Bath is used for Short Term and Long Term hydro-static pressure testing. Generally, incase of Hydro-Static test For HDPE, R-PVC, C-PVC, MDPE & LATERAL PIPES, the test specimen suppose to be tested either at room temperature or at highertemperature in water bath as per IS & ASTM STANDARDS.
The Reversion Oil Bath Tester is use to determine reversion characteristics of R-PVC pipe as per immersion method of IS-12235 (Part – V) standard.

Zero Degree Chamber

The Zero Degree Chamber is specially used to condition the R-PVC pipes at 0 Deg. C. For impact testing as per IS 4985 standard.
A true material comparison is possible only when property values are determined by identical test methods under identical conditons. Generally speaking, physical and mechanical properties of plastics and electrical insulating material are affected by temperature and humidity. Plastic materials tested above room temperature will yield relatively higher impact strength and lower tensile strength and modulus. Obviously, in order to make reliable comparisons of different materials and test results obtained by different laboratories, it is necessary to establish standard conditions of temperature and humidity for testing.

Hot air circulating oven for Shrinkage, Reversion & E.S.C.R Test

The Hot air circulating oven is used for multipurpose tests for plastic matiral such as Shrinkage, Reversion, Warpage, Moisture Content and Leteral E. S. C. R. test at different temperatureFree Falling Dart Impact Tester

Free Falling Dart Impact Tester

The Free Falling Dart Impact Tester is used for PVC pipes, PVC ducting pipes & HDPE pipes as per IS & DOT specifications.
The impact properities of the polymetric materials are directly related to the overall toughness of the materual. Toughness is defined as the ability of the polymer to absorb applied energy. The area under the stress-strain curve isdirectly proportional to thetoughness of a material. Impact strength is a measurement of toughness. The higher the impact strength of a material the higher the toughness and vice-versa. Impact resistance is the ability of a material to resist breaking under a shock loading or the ability to resist the fracture under stress applied at high speed.

Opacity Tester

The Opacity Tester is used to determine opitcal characteristics of plastics including colour, clarity, general appeareance and more directly measurable properties, such as index of refrection.
Most resin by nature are clear and transperant. They can be coloured by dyes and will become opaque as pigment or fillers are added. Polystyrene and poly (methyI methacrylate) are well know for their optical clarity, which even exceeds, that of most glass. Optical clarity is measurement of light transmitting ability of the material. It depends, among other things, on the length of the light path, which can be quantitatively expressed.

Co-Efficient of Friction Tester

The friction tester is primarly designed to determine the Co-Efficient of Friction of Plastic films, sheets, laminate, pipes and paper etc. The equipment provides the measurement of static and kinetic co-efficient of friction. The apparatus conforms to BS 2782 and ASTM D-1894 and other equivalent standards.
Measurement of frictinal properites may be made on a film or sheeting specimen when sliding over itself of over another substance. The co-efficient of friction arer related to the slip properties of plastic films that are of wide interestin packaging application. These methods yield empirical data for control purposes in film production.Correlation of test results with actual performance can usually be established.

Heat Deflection / Vicat Softening Temperature Apparatus

The HDT/VSP instrument is used for determining the deflection temperature limit for specific application and comparing the heat softening characteristics of thermoplastic material at a constant load in oil upto 300 Deg. Co.c
Plastic materials being heat sensitive in nature has a lot of bearing on its thermal environment for it’s performance. Though their behaviour in thermal conditions is very complex some simple yeild tests are used to predict it’s behaviour and performance in a given condition. “VICAT SOFTENING POINT” or “HEAT DISTORTION TEMPERATURE” is one of such yeild points very commonly employed with such demanding applications. Vicat test consist of penetrating a unit size indentor in a plastic surface with predefind load under constant rate of environmental temperaturerise. Heat distorsion test, as it is sometimes called, consistes of deflecting a simply supported beam of test material under similar heating conditions & with a predefined stress application.HDT
